WATERCOLORS

My watercolor landscapes and still lifes begin with a visceral response to the immediate subject before me. The dance that watercolor painting offers is an exchange between the playful experienced when placing color onto wet paper followed by deciding what the next step needs to be for that particular work.  This exchange between playful & decisive continues until I can resolve the painting’s end. I find that stopping just before the work might be finished avoids overworking the paint. My desire is to keep the colors fresh and spontaneous to best reflect my inner sprit of the outer natural world.
